Dr. Bay to conclude his service at CRCDS

The Colgate Rochester Crozer school community learned today that President Eugene C. Bay will retire at the beginning of the summer. Dr. Bay had originally informed the Board of his intent to conclude his service as President on December 31, 2009. Due to his commitment and desire to assist the Board and School community as they planned for renewal and program revitalization, Dr. Bay amended his decision and agreed to remain at the School until the completion of the 2010 spring semester.

After retiring from his pastorate at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, PA Dr. Bay was invited by the CRCDS Board in 2005 to provide leadership at a critical time in the school’s life. “Soon after his appointment it became apparent that President Bay’s leadership skills matched precisely the School’s needs. Throughout his presidency he led the School in important new directions. The School is stronger and more viable today than it has been in many years,” stated Rev. Dr. John Wilkinson, CRCDS Board Chair.

Dr. Bay assumed the Office of the President in January 2006. During his tenure as president, Dr. Bay has provided the school with exceptional leadership and vision. Because of his leadership, enrollment trends are stronger, the Board and Administration work in a true collegial fashion, faculty research and instruction has been strengthen, the School’s finances are properly stewarded and the partnerships with Ithaca and the American Cancer Society’s B. Thomas Golisano Hope Lodge and Hospitality House continue to present new promise to the school. Dr. Wilkinson further stated, “The Board of Trustees, aware of Dr. Bay’s plans, is actively working to address the question of the School’s leadership.  That is one of several matters that a special Board task force is addressing. Preliminary recommendations will be made at the Board’s March 1st meeting.”
