Visiting Professor of Church History Dr. John R. Tyson was recently appointed Visiting Professor of Church History and Director of United Methodist Studies. Dr. Tyson will serve a three year full-time appointment and will begin his work at CRCDS in spring, 2011. He was previously an adjunct professor at CRCDS and taught, “The Life and Thought of John Wesley.”
Dr. Tyson holds degrees from Grove City College, Asbury Theological Seminary, and Drew University, where he received his Ph.D. He has written several books and articles and has an extensive list of speaking engagements.
Dr. Tyson is a deacon in the United Methodist Church, and is currently engaged in the process leading towards Elder’s Orders. He currently serves the Arcade United Methodist Church.
