Eastertime Lessons & Carols
Date: Thursday, April 8 Time: 7 p.m. Location: CRCDS, The Samuel Colgate Memorial Chapel Cost: $20Most people connect Lessons and Carols with the Advent/ Christmas season. Those who have experienced it know that it’s a prayerful reflection of the season, with Scripture, hymns, and prayers. That format has been adapted by “Women of the Well” to tell the stories of some women leaders of the early Church, at the very dawn of Christianity. Each section consists of a Scripture passage focusing on a woman leader, the woman telling her story, a hymn and a prayer to the risen Christ. Liturgical dance is also featured, where appropriate.
Come and encounter Joanna, Mary of Magdala, Dorcas (or Tabitha), Lydia, and Mary the mother of Jesus at Pentecost. Also, overhear a conversation between Prisca and Phoebe, two outstanding leaders of early Christian communities and two of Paul’s closest friends. Be inspired by the courage and wisdom of each woman. Let them speak to your hearts and experience today. Enter into the music, Scripture, and prayers. Who knows what wisdom will be gained?
